The Witch's Broom Nebula
in Cygnus is the western half
of the Veil Nebula, a
supernova remnant about
1400 lightyears away. The
bright star at center is 52
Cygni, but one should avoid
the temptation to assume
that it is somehow related to
the supernova -- it is not!
Please compare NGC 69
60
to
NGC 6992.
